IT18 exclusively focuses on talent management in the tech sector and will explore issues surrounding the attraction, recruitment and management of IT professionals in ANZ.

At #IT18 our speakers will tackle a range of issues facing the tech community, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by recruitment leaders and those who manages people. Subjects will range from hiring top technical talent to building great workplaces for IT professionals. Agenda will include exploring the latest trends in attracting, hiring and managing technology professionals in NZ and Australia.  We will look a look at tools and new technologies, recruitment best-practices and will decipher the ever changing behavior of  tech talent.

In this session Bradley will demonstrate how Xero approach talent acquisition and people management, and will highlight how Xero use unconventional methods to manage unconventional people to register unconventional growth.

In today’s hyper competitive tech talent market, the usual recruiting tactics may not always yield the best candidates.  This session will cover best sourcing practices for using multi-media sites, image sharing sites, video sites and more.  The presentation will give attendees some unconventional ideas for sourcing hard to find technical candidates that may not be found on traditional social media sites.  This session will take attendees on a tour of creative and sometimes controversial sites for locating the best candidates available today.

OPEN LESSONS FROM OPEN SOURCE RECRUITMENT - REDHAT CASE STUDY

What goes on behind the scene in the world’s largest open source company Red Hat? What talent acquisition strategies powers a global brand with operations in 35 countries? How do you build relationship with a niche tech community? In this session Andrew will highlight the talent acquisition journey Red Hat took to drive a global company forward. He will illustrate the staffing challenges faced and how Red Hat global team overcame them. The presentation will hone in on the steps taken including the use of predictive metrics, referral programs, staff forecasting and the development of a sourcing team.
